Frayashti Shekhawat is a Communications Assistant at the World Peace Foundation and MALD candidate at The Fletcher School, Tufts University. Her work sits at the intersection of international security, global governance, and conflict, with a particular focus on peacebuilding, civil resistance, and civilian protection. Before Fletcher, she served as a Teach for India Fellow, where working in a low-income community affected by violence deepened her commitment to dialogue-driven and systemic approaches to conflict. Her current research examines how civilian populations use nonviolent resistance against non-state armed groups, addressing a significant gap in civil resistance theory — which has historically centered on resistance against state actors—with direct implications for civilian protection policy and humanitarian practice
