Niku Jafarnia is a researcher in the Middle East and Africa division of Human Rights Watch, investigating violations of armed conflict law in Gaza, Lebanon, and Yemen, and human rights abuses in Bahrain. She previously worked with the Center for Civilians in Conflict (CIVIC), where, as the Middle East and North Africa Regional Researcher, she led research and advocacy on civilian protection issues across the MENA region. Prior to CIVIC, Jafarnia was a legal fellow with the Accountability and Redress Unit of Mwatana for Human Rights, a Yemeni civil society organization. She has several years of experience providing legal assistance and conducting research with refugees and asylum-seekers.
