The first piece I’ve chosen for this collection is “On Environmental Justice and Militarism” (November 2023) by Gustavo Garcia. It is a hauntingly beautiful blog essay!
Second, there is “Anybody’s Somebody: Suicides in US Jails and Prisons” (July 2023), a very personal blog essay I authored about a close friend who lost her brother to suicide in a New Mexico jail.
Last, is Nico Edward’s report, “Resisting Green Militarism: Building Movements for Peace and Eco-Social Justice” (December 2023), speaks to Nico’s ability to blur the line between activism and academia. (It’s important to note that the report is so stunning because Lisa Avery formatted it!)
