Yuen Yuen Ang is the Alfred Chandler Chair Professor of Political Economy at Johns Hopkins University. A central theme in Ang’s work is how societies adapt, or fail to adapt, to disruptions—beginning in the context of China’s capitalist revolution. She defines today’s disruptions not just as a paralyzing “polycrisis,” but as a “polytunity”–a generational opening for deep transformation of global ideas and inclusion of new voices in a multipolar world. Interviews and writing on polytunity have appeared at the World Peace Foundation, Listín Diario (Dominican Republic), Mandag Morgen (Denmark), Overseas Development Institute (U.K.), South China Morning Post (Hong Kong), and United Nations Development Programme.
