Ethiopia is embroiled in complex political crisis, armed conflict and deepening humanitarian emergency. During 2020-22, the war in Tigray, and associated massacre and starvation, were the bloodiest conflict in the world, conducted under a cloak of silence imposed by the Ethiopian government.
The World Peace Foundation endeavored to break this silence, documenting the atrocities and starvation and providing a platform for voices to be heard and advocating for peace, humanitarian action and accountability for atrocities. In a series of reports, book-length treatments, and essays, we examine unfolding events including the implementation of the 2022 Pretoria Agreement that ended active hostilities in Tigray, and the crises of hunger across the country, as well as helping the voices of survivors of sexual and gender-based violence and starvation be heard.
